This guide describes how to disassemble your UHK 80, which is especially useful for replacing your case with one of a different color. Let’s do it!

You’ll need a keycap puller and a PH0 screwdriver.

Remove the keycaps with the keycap puller and unscrew the marked screws. Also, remove the palm rests and cages.

(The screw holes with the X in them contain a spring between the circuit board and the metal plate. Put them back if you also remove the switches and separate the circuit board from the plate. Before reinserting switches, make sure to put the circuit board back into the case; otherwise, you can rip off the sockets!)

Unscrew these screws to be able to remove the top case parts on the front side.

Transferring the OLED display to the new case

With the top-right section now accessible, apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol along the inner edges where the OLED display meets the plastic case. Wait a couple of minutes for the adhesive to soften, then press firmly from behind the display to pop it out through the front. Once removed, seat the display into your new case with gentle pressure to snap it in. If the fit is loose, fresh adhesive such as double-sided tape may be needed to secure it.
