Trackpoint assembly replacement

Is your trackpoint broken? Let's replace its inner assembly!

First up, remove the red trackpoint cap. Just pull it with your hand, and it should easily come off:

Unscrew the two large screws at the bottom of the module:

Separate the top and bottom module parts. You don't actually need any tools, and they should come apart easily when pulling them with your hands in opposite directions:

With the top and bottom parts apart, you should see the following:

Lift the assembly with a prying tool. Don't try to separate the blue circuit board from the black spacer beneath because they're glued together:

Disconnect the assembly from the FFC connector by pulling the cable in the opposite direction:

Now the assembly should be separated from the module:

Take the new assembly, and reverse the above steps to assemble your module with it.
