My heatgun is a an Aoyue 8208. It's a solid piece of equipment but I'd be willing to replace it for another model that displays the current temperature. Let me know if you're interested in it. Maybe we can make a deal.

Glad you purchased a ZD-985 - it'll serve you well!

How do you mean that I'm a bit broad on ChipQuik? I'm using this kit but this other one may give you a better bang for your bucks. You really don't need anything but the alloy.

A flux pen definitely helps a lot when doing SMD work. I also have a heat gun but I rarely use it. Maybe if I did BGAs or MLFs I'd use it more often.
